Ralph Lauren’s 2014 Olympics opening ceremony outfits are 100% made in the USA Ralph Lauren’s Olympic looks are 100% USA

Designer Ralph Lauren unveiled the casual duds that America’s Olympians will wear at opening ceremonies next month in Sochi and this time the red, white, blue and garish garments will actually be made in the nation that they are meant to represent.

The yarn is from a farm in Oregon. The spinning was done in Pennsylvania. They material was dyed in North Carolina. And the assembly line was just outside of Los Angeles.

The switch to American manufacturers came after the fashion empire was blasted for using Chinese workers to make Team USA garb for the 2012 London games.

Following that snafu, Ralph Lauren vowed that this year’s garments would be entirely made in the USA. First stop, Shaniko, Ore.

“I got a phone call back in July 2012 from someone at Ralph Lauren who was looking for American yarn,” Jeanne Carver, owner of Imperial Stock Ranch, told the Daily News.

“I provided samples and (six months later) we got a purchase order from them.”

Carver’s sheep hair was sent to Kraemer Yarns in Nazareth, Pa.

Employees from both companies confirmed to the Daily News that their workers were involved in making the Sochi sweaters, the centerpiece of Lauren’s Olympic collection.

Olympic ice hockey players Zach Parise and Julie Chu model the new Ralph Lauren designed uniform.

The final garment was made at Ball of Cotton in Commerce,

“We wanted to honor the heritage of the Olympics, the athletes and celebrate our country,” said David Lauren, a Ralph Lauren vice president. “(It) is an icon of Americana.”

The chunky, button up cardigan is emblazoned with Olympic rings, bold stars and stripes and an American flag. Its patchwork design is a symbol that each athlete has his or her own story to tell, the company said.

The Olympic collection also includes a festive, cream colored turtleneck, white fleece pants, a wool pea coat, black boots with red laces and a cotton belt.

The apparel is for sale on the Ralph Lauren website and in select Ralph Lauren stores. The company said it will donate the entire purchase price of the $595 cardigan to the Olympic Committee.

SPRINGFIELD Attorneys in the case of a local lawyer facing sexual assault charges argued Tuesday over issues of consent and whether one of the man’s accusers needed to say “no” for a count of rape to stand.

Three women have leveled sexual assault allegations against James Martin, 41, of Granby. Grand juries have indicted him on charges including rape and indecent assault and battery. He has denied each of the charges.

At issue Tuesday were indictments relating to a woman who says Martin, who practiced law in Springfield and other courts, forced her to perform oral sex on him after she went to his office on June 6, 2016, to discuss her upcoming divorce.

Defense attorney Alan J. Black argued there was not enough probable cause to support the grand jury’s indictments: one count of rape and two counts of indecent assault and battery.

Those charges should be dropped, Black argued, because the grand jury minutes do not indicate the woman told Martin “no.” There is no evidence of a “lack of consent” at all, he said; later on the woman talked about being confused and there being an issue of power.

But Assistant District Attorney Eileen Sears said an explicit, verbal “no” isn’t necessary.

Sears said the woman said she was fearful, intimidated and didn’t feel she could say “no,” which is equal to her not consenting.

Hampden Superior Court Judge Constance M. Sweeney said probable cause requires the woman to have conveyed her lack of consent to Martin.

Sears said Martin locked the office door during the encounter and when he put his hands on the woman, the woman started to move her body away. She said that would give Martin the impression it was unwanted conduct.

Black said the woman did not communicate in any way that a reasonable person could understand was a “no.”

“It’s a tricky situation,” Black said.

Sweeney took the matter under advisement.

Martin faces four other counts of indecent assault and battery, based on allegations he assaulted another one of his clients after driving her to an alley in Holyoke. That woman reported the assault to police on Aug. 24, 2016, court documents show.

Martin, who is free on his own recognizance, is also charged in a separate case with three counts of indecent assault and battery and one count of assault and battery.

In that case the indictments allege the acts happened Nov. 9, 2015, in Westfield. The victim, who is identified by her initials, is the same for all four counts.

Automated signals that could have warned the passenger train to stop before reaching the switch sending it down the side track were turned off as workers installed a GPS based system called positive train control, or PTC, National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Robert Sumwalt said. The crew that parked the CSX freight train on the side track and left the padlocked switch in position to divert trains from the main line were interviewed Monday, along with the dispatcher keeping up with trains in the area as the signals weren’t working, Sumwalt said.Sumwalt told reporters he had not been briefed about what the CSX workers said. The Amtrak engineer sounded his horn seven seconds before the crash and applied emergency brakes three seconds before the train collided with the other locomotive at 50 mph (80 kph), Sumwalt said, citing information from the passenger train’s data recorder.”The expectation for the Amtrak crew is that they were clear,” Sumwalt said. The system is designed to prevent two trains from traveling on the same track at the same time. That’s what happened early Sunday in Cayce, South Carolina, when the New York to Miami Amtrak passenger train hit the parked CSX Corp. freight train. Two Amtrak employees, a conductor and an engineer, were killed and more than 100 passengers were treated at hospitals for injuries. It was the third fatal Amtrak train crash in less than two months. So why hasn’t the system been widely implemented? Both industry experts and rail companies say in large part it comes down to costs and the sheer size of the nation’s rail system. After a collision between a commuter train and a freight train in Chatsworth, California, that killed 25 people, Congress passed a law in 2008 requiring railroads to adopt the technology on all tracks that carry passenger trains.Positive train control relies on GPS, wireless radio and computers to monitor train positions and automatically slow or stop trains that are in danger of colliding, derailing from excessive speed, or about to enter track where crews are working or that is otherwise off limits.Railroads were given seven years to start using the technology across the country’s 20,000 locomotives and 60,000 miles of track. But when it became clear that few if any railroads would meet the deadline, Congress extended it another three years to Dec. 31, 2018, with the option to grant railroads that show progress an additional two years to Dec. 31, 2020. Several freight railroads have previously told the government they won’t be able to meet the 2018 deadline.Overall, freight railroads have implemented PTC on 56 percent of required route miles, according to the Association of American Railroads. will require extensions. But in areas like South Carolina, the tracks are owned by freight companies like CSX.During a conference call with reporters, Amtrak President Robert Anderson said Sunday’s crash underscores the importance of meeting the year end deadline for widespread implementation.”People aren’t focused on it until we have tragedies,” Schiavo said. Blood in Los Angeles, and Joan Lowy in Washington contributed to this report, along with AP video journalist Josh Replogle.

st francis water polo Quality tops Volkswagen dealers’ concerns

And the cavalry in the form of redesigned Golf, Jetta and Passat models won’t be charging to the rescue this year. showrooms.

The R32, the most powerful Golf ever, should arrive in dealerships this month. The Passat finally gets a diesel engine this spring, and dealers soon will be able to offer customers an all wheel drive Passat with the 1.8 T engine. Previously, customers could get 4Motion awd only on the higher priced 6 cylinder model. VW’s first SUV, the Touareg, gets a V 10 diesel engine in the spring.

Aging product is not the dealers’ only problem. They had difficulty in 2003 implementing the factory’s new brand standards, which include both mandatory operating standards and optional dealer experience standards.

Gene Langan, chairman of the Volkswagen National Dealer Council and owner of Gene Langan Volkswagen in Glastonbury, Conn., spoke about the challenges ahead for VW dealers with Staff Reporter Ralph Kisiel.

How would you sum up the past year for VW in the United States?

It was a very difficult year for both the brand and the dealers. We started off the year with the ignition coil issue, which created many problems for our customers and our dealers. It generated a lot of negative press. Our sales were down, and the dealers had to deal with the new brand standards. It was not well received by the dealers. There were some 350 standards in our whole standards package. Dealers had the impression that the factory was too involved in our businesses.

Will the implementation of brand standards go any smoother in 2004?

Through the past year, dealers have worked with Volkswagen, and we’re getting ready to launch much simplified 2004 brand standards. They’ve taken a lot of the things out that we said are too involved in our businesses. On the financial end,
baylor polo Quality tops Volkswagen dealers' concerns
we’ve eliminated volume bonuses and things like that. So the standards look like they will be a lot better for the dealers.

How is 2004 shaping up for the brand?

I believe 2004 will be a really challenging year for Volkswagen and the dealers. The biggest issue that affects us today, outside of our quality, is the age of our core products the Golf, Jetta and Passat.

Hopefully the brand has realistic goals on what we can sell, and we tailor our marketing and our incentive programs to achieve those numbers. The age of the products is going to make it a difficult year.

Does VW have a hot product?

Right now our hottest product is the Touareg especially the V 8 model. It’s gaining strength. Our diesel cars are really desirable.

How will the diesel Passat do here?

We’ve had a lot of customers over the years that have asked why don’t you have it in the Passat. I think it will be very good for that car. That one’s probably here in spring 2004.

What product is the weak link?

It is our core products Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle. These are the cars that have made up the lion’s share of our volume over the past five or six years, and these vehicles are unchanged. That’s going to be the biggest challenge for us.

Is there anything to help out before the 2005 product arrives?

The TDI Passat, which comes out in the spring, will help. Probably the thing that will help our Passat line the most is the 4 cylinder 4Motion. You will be able to get into an all wheel drive Passat for the mid 20s, which will match us up in some markets that we can’t compete in right now. That’s the one that excites me the most. I think that’s going to be a good car for us, especially for dealers in the North and Midwest.

Another product that’s coming and in production now is the Golf R32.

The R32 will be the fastest Golf ever, right?

Yes, it will. It’s all wheel drive, and the car’s done very well in Europe. Right now we have a considerable order list on this car. So this should be a nice shot in the arm for us.

The Jetta was just freshened. Has that helped?

I think it improves the look of the vehicle. I couldn’t say today that I think it has increased sales. But it’s a nice upgrade. But the car to me still looks pretty much the same it did before. It’s not as dramatic as the Passat upgrade in 2001.

What is the council’s top priority in 2004?

As in past years, it’s the quality of the products we sell and service. The quality hasn’t been good. We’ve talked to them about this for years. The important thing to us is we have 800,
baylor polo Quality tops Volkswagen dealers' concerns
000 cars out there still under warranty. We need to be able to get quick fixes and solutions to problems. We have to be able to take care of these customers. We have to be able to expand our goodwill policies.

Quality is on top of most dealers’ minds. Most of our issues today are a result of our quality. Volkswagen must make sure that it does not make the same mistakes and repeat the same quality issues on the coming products the 2005 products.

One of Rapid City’s oldest national retail stores is closing later this spring.

Sears Holdings, Chicago based parent company of Sears and Kmart stores, announced Thursday it had informed employees at 39 Sears locations, including the Rapid City store located at 2200 North Maple Ave., in the Rushmore Mall, that it would be closing in late March or early April.

However, the company released the following statement on its website in announcing the latest in a series of store closures over the past several months.

“Sears Holdings continues its strategic assessment of the productivity of our Kmart and Sears store base and will continue to right size our store footprint in number and size,” the company said in a statement.

“In the process,

as previously announced we will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members.”

Sears Holdings spokesman Larry Costello couldn’t say how many employees worked at the Rapid City store.

Liquidation sales will begin at the affected Sears and Kmart stores as early as Jan. 12, the company said.

Sears, Roebuck Co. operated a store at 512 Main St. in downtown Rapid City in what is now the Shops at Main Street Square. The Sears name can still be seen in the concrete threshold in front of the entrance of the former store, built in 1947, according to county records.

Sears has anchored the east wing of the Mall since the late 1970s, but the company has closed hundreds of stores in recent months in the face of changing consumer buying habits, which have seen exponential growth in online shopping at the expense of traditional brick and mortar retailers.

Rushmore Mall manager Brandon Boyster said in an email Thursday that the mall is seeking a replacement tenant for Sears.

“As for the announced closing of Sears, retail brands come and go and that has always been the case in the retail industry,

” Boyster said. “We plan to re tenant the space and our leasing team is currently in discussions with potential new tenants.”

I sick of typing whenever i need to create another space. Do i need to do that for blogspot I sick of asking another friend to help me do any editing when i need any to be done. Besides, i think i have offended a friend with what i said. I kinda knew it myself but i was feeling sucky that day and pride prevented me from apologising. Yeap, i know what i wrote sucks and i erhz. i . erhz. it kinda hard for me to do that you know when pride is drownin me over here. Hope she will get over it as soon as possible. Take care.

I going to log off now. I think i will try to start a blogspot account. Thanks for reading my blog, everyone of you, although i know it bullcrap but it motivated me to go on.

Goodbye for now. Why like that of the thing i do not like to see is Christians flaming others for not observing the rules of the bible. I being very careful with my words here as i do not hate Christians or whatsoever as some of my pretty good friends are Christians.

You know how some would say “God didn want us .” “God would do this if you . ” “God this and that”. In other words reasoning with the word of God or . some would even say preaching. I just don like it when they preach with words like “fucking burn you in hell”, “eat shit” , “strike you with lightning” (and i thought only zeus does that).

Why can they practice more tolerance for other religions like Buddhism (i not saying Buddhism is all good)Why must they force their religion on others (I know it got spreading the gospel. like you have good news and you would like to share it with as many as possible) Buy can you be a little more sensitive towards to what you say to other people

By the way, i might be wrong to even say these people are Christians. They might be something else. tuesdays

After taking MT, i realise i have a lot of spare time up my sleeves. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays are FREE DAYS. Did i forget to include my weekends as well That right! Don be too envious, after all this is my final year to slack like shit.

Today we talk about the . discrimination procrastination or free will What do you guys want to hear

I guess i going to talk about free will. Is there truly free will Do we really have the freedom to act in the capacity we deem fit Is freedom for real or are we all constrained in this big crystal globe free to do whatever we are so long as we do not go out of the globe. (I can already vividly imagine some of you picking up this crystal globe, giving it a hard shake to watch the snow flakes scattering all over).

If we truly had the freedom to choose what we want to do, would we all be better off Would it mean stripping away all punishments for the guilty on the account that they were merely acting on free will Does free will also mean utopia

Wanna know what i feel I think free will exists when you are acting for others. not for yourself. For the sake of everyone and not for selfish reasons. You are free to do whatever it takes to make others happy. On decisions which affect yourself, you are suppose to let the “acting for others” take precedence. Meaning to say, if it doesn affect the happiness of others, you are free to do what you want and how you want.

This again brings us back to the fact that we live for others, not for oneself.

With that, i conclude my entry. Gay Love i continue with my entry, i would like to emphasize that i am not a GAY. Don jump into conclusions k, imagine. Ralph would make a lousy gay with his cannot be bothered attitude. Some girls actually say that i a MCP, a loser and ugly. (no, that not true, i just being EXTREMELY humble)

Okay, back to the entry. Recently i read this rather interesting and “astonishing” blog which changed my perception. I have to admit that before reading that particularly blog, i was among the guilty ones that they have singled out. Yes, when i see gay couples out in the street holding hands, i would whisper to my friend and point. Now i feel really mean for doing so. WhyAfter reading the entries, i truly believe that love exists everywhere, yes. even in gay couples. After reading how much they had to go through as a couple made me realised how much society bias, parental pressure and loss of friendship they had to endure just because they happen to “different”. Are they really different Do they really deserve such attention from the public for doing things like holding the hands of their loved ones

Now before i go on and on about protecting their rights or dignity i ask myself “would i be able to practice what i preach Would i be able to not make such a commotion when i see a gay couple out in the streets After reading their blog, i most certainly do intend to try not to succumb to finger pointing.

Now moving on to the topic of nature vs nurture. I believe that gays are born gays. It something out of their control because i believe that nobody would want to go through such pressures of being gay in this conservative society. I sure if given a choice, no one would want to go through what these 2 are going through now. We should all practice tolerence on others who are different from us, especially in this multi racial society we live in. Tolerence means accepting others who do not share the same views, ideas and opinions. Therefore it is okay if some of you who reads this say “this is bullcrap!”. I do not expect all of you to change your perception after reading this cos . hey, i took 1 whole day before my perception took a shift. (1 whole day reading the blog and thinking about it)

If you read further, you might observe many flaming comments as well as comments of encouragement for their bravery. Personally i think it a good thing that they posted such a blog because it made me changed my perception. I believe that moving on, they will be able to change many like myself into acceptance as well as tolerance of their kind.
