Trudy Cook, beloved wife of Bill Cook of Calgary passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the age of 91 years. As a young woman, Trudy enjoyed skating at the Crystal Skating Rink, which is where she met her husband Bill. While living in Edmonton, she spent many weekends skiing with her family at the Devon Ski Hill. Upon the retirement of her husband, Trudy and Bill spent many summers golfing together at Redwood Meadows and later at the Elks club. Trudy was very skilled at many hobbies and especially enjoyed knitting sweaters and clothes for her family and sewing Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. Trudy also spent many years working with ceramics. She had several potting wheels, a kiln and even made her own glazes. While her children attended elementary school, Trudy was an active volunteer. She often provided administrative assistance in the school office as well as helping out elsewhere when needed. She was very dedicated to her children, spending many hours helping with homework and typing school reports. As a homemaker, Trudy was very proud of maintaining a spotless, dust free home, which was a challenge with her husband and two sons. She was a great cook and always made sure her family was well fed. Trudy was also an excellent baker and would dedicate hours to baking cookies and other treats for Christmas, Halloween and family events. She always looked forward to spending time with her family on special occasions. As a grandmother, Trudy spent many hours reading stories to her grandchildren and playing Snakes and Ladders, Rocket to the Moon and Booby Trap. Trudy was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all. Besides her loving husband, Bill, Trudy is survived by her sons, Brian (Jason) and Gary (Trina); and grandchildren, Kelsey, Garrett and Alexa. Trudy was predeceased by her siblings, Norma Sprouse and Tom Walls. A Private Family Gathering will be held at a later date. In living memory of Trudy Cook, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
